doing it the hard way....
i really must have a penchant for doing things the hard way.. it's either that or i am a glutton for punishment...
the first 15km run in UPLB had everyone nervous except probably me... i was not in the "zone" couldn't really even internalize that i was going to run that very difficult route and terrain.. i woke up, got dressed ate a little and thought to myself: "I'm going to run???" so when May said GO! i ran along with all of my batchmates but truth to tell, my heart wasn't in it.. all i wanted was to finish the 15k without any injury whatsoever..
so predictably, i didn't make the 2hr cut...my time was 2hrs 18mins and 54seconds... at that time, i just couldn't muster the strength of will to push myself..
luckily, we were given another shot at the 15km run.. this time at ULTRA. ten rounds with 500m purely uphill.. i went to do the ocular with nette and aries and ended up eating at aysee upon nette's request..
as we went around twice, i began to imagine myself running the course and i said to myself that i could probably do it... that i can make it in less than two hours..
so when the second 15km run came, i ran alternating between being conservative and giving it all that i've got.. (still not pushing myself to the limit) but at least i gave it the best that i can without depleting my energy..
and so it came about that i ran a total of 34.4km from that fatefull day in UPLB upto the time when we were at ULTRA...
do i love running?...not yet, but i am actually looking forward to running by myself again..
